Poison Ivy? Dr. Wacky’s Anti-Inflammatory Ointment is the cure!

June 12th, 2007

Going camping this summer? Here some facts about Poison Ivy that you should know before you trek out into the wilderness!

How do you get poison ivy?

From touching it, or touching something that has touched it, like your clothes or your dog. You normally get it from touching the leaves, but yanking the vine out by the roots - even in winter - will give you a wicked rash.

And there are more unusual ways to get it, like breathing smoke from firewood burning with poison ivy on it. Which can also put people into the hospital.

What about immunity?

Some people appear to be immune, others become immune. HOWEVER, you can gain or lose immunity, so to assume you can’t get it if you never have before is foolish. People change as they age. I would never assume that I was immune at any time no matter what my past experience was.

What it is like to get it?

At first you get a slight itchy spot, which gets worse and worse. It can be a a small itchy area that will annoy you, or it can cover your whole body with giant red sores that will drive you nuts.

What if you know you’ve been exposed to it?

Within a hour or so you should rinse with lots of cold water - like a garden hose. Hot water will open your pores and let the oil in. Taking shower could be a disaster

For up to about 6 hours washing with alcohol may still help remove the oil, but many say that after 1/2 hour the oil has soaked in and you can’t remove it.

The next day is really too late. Check with your doctor to see if early treatment can prevent the rash before it really starts.

What can you do once the itching starts?

For a serious case you MUST SEE A DOCTOR for prescription medicine. For something less serious use Dr. Wacky’s Oweee! Anti-Inflammatory Ointment which uses Tea Tree Oil and Hydrocortisone for instant on contact relief.

Know your Tea Tree oil!

May 17th, 2007

Tea Tree Oil has been at the forefront of essential oil usage in the US for several decades, but its origins go back thousands of years!  Tea Tree Oil comes from the tree/plant Melalueca alterfolia, which grows in Australia.  Its closest ‘relatives’ would be eucalyptus trees and others that produce oils and resins known as terpenes.

But here’s the important stuff!  Tea Tree Oil is actually made up of many different (over 25 and counting!) fractions of volatile oils, including cineol and terpinol.  The Australian government actually regulates and grades Tea Tree Oil from medical and pharmaceutical grade down to a household use and industrial grade.  When you purchase Tea Tree Oil in a drug store or health food store or wherever, most of the time, you have no idea what grade that particular bottle of oil might be, simply because the US government does not regulate essential oils!

At Dr. Wacky’s, we use ONLY a medical grade Tea Tree Oil in all of our products, high in terpinol and low in cineol, allowing maximum penetration and soothing with little to no irritation that can occur with some forms of Tea Tree Oil.

Have any questions about Tea Tree Oil or other ingredients in Dr. Wacky’s products??  Just ask!!

Testimonial

April 30th, 2007

I went to my 40th high school reunion last night. Of course, I wanted the “tall and sexy look”, so to increase my 5′1″ to a whopping 5′4″ I wore some hot looking high heel “tramp” shoes. Needless to say, after dancing the night away, I could barely walk this morning.

I remembered your Oweee Muscle Rub (thank goodness) - the relief was almost instantaneous (and it cleared my sinuses, too). It really is some amazing stuff! I know you already are aware of that, but I just had to tell you thank you. I only needed one rub down, and my feet were comfortable all day.

Take care and thanks again!

Did You Know?

That your toothbrush can harbor the herpes virus for days, reinfecting you after the present cold sore heals? Well it can! Throw your toothbrush away when you notice your beginning to get the virus. If you still develop the cold sore, throw the toothbrush away after the blister develops. Once the cold sore has healed just replace your toothbrush again. Always use small tubes of toothpaste because toothpaste can transmit disease. Think how often that toothbrush comes into contact with the opening of the tube. Lastly keep your toothbrush in a dry area. The herpes virus loves moist cozy areas!
